Bar Mordecai Wedding | Esra & Dan

E

Esra and Dan were married last year at Bar Mordecai, a bar inspired by the aesthetics of Wes Anderson film sets. It’s such a cool little spot in Toronto on Dundas West and really, the perfect place for an intimate wedding. It even made the list of North America’s 50 Best Bars!

I loved how laid back this wedding was. The day started with an informal meet-up with family in the park, followed by a walk to the venue to prepare for the ceremony. When guests arrived they were welcomed by lush tropical plants, kitschy pink and plum decor details, and an impressive four tier cheese cake. During the ceremony, guests stood in the main room lining the bar and sitting areas which made it feel that much more intimate. The room was filled with plenty of laughs and happy tears all around. There were even some laugh-till-you-cry moments during moving speeches by friends and family. We popped out at sunset to take some portraits in the neighbourhood. Dundas West is brimming with fun street art and colourful nooks and crannies wherever you turn. The reception was so much fun with passed apps and food stations throughout the evening, including delicious cheeses for guests to take home. Esra even had a playful outfit change to kick off the dance party. One of my favourite highlights of the night was definitely the incredible music by local musicians Jeremie Albino and DJ Milk Jagger, and an awesome karaoke party that had people singing till the very end. It was a joyous and unforgettable celebration of love that will definitely go down in my books.

I would love to find myself at another Bar Mordecai wedding, so please reach out if it’s on your venue wishlist!
