Toronto’s Top Wedding Planners
One of the top (non-photography-related) questions I get asked by my clients, is “Do you have a wedding planner you would recommend that you love working with?”. Yes, I sure as heck do. Working with a planner for your wedding day is a no-brainer. A newly engaged couple has likely never planned a wedding before and there are incredible pros in this city that have done the job hundreds of times. Hiring a top Toronto wedding planner will save you money, time, and a whole lot of unnecessary stress on your wedding day and for months leading up to it.
I spoke one on one with a group of amazing wedding planners who work in and around Toronto, and even worldwide if you’re planning a destination wedding. I highly recommend reaching out to any one of these awesome people if you’re newly engaged and ready to start the planning process. Here is a list of some of Toronto’s top wedding planners, coupled with a few wise words from each of them.
Adena and Alex are the ladies and principal planners behind the Avent Agency. AA was born out of a desire to create focused service with a passion for ease and elegance. With more than 15 years of experience, their commitment to organizing events meticulously, coupled with their love for decor and design, leaves clients and guests with a truly memorable experience.
“We want our clients to fully enjoy their experience and their day. We want them to immerse themselves and not to worry about any of the details. We have years of industry knowledge and consider all of the things that a client might not. We know all the details that come along with each wedding and which vendors to connect our clients with. We make sure to understand what is most important to our clients and what their main priorities are.
There are hiccups at every event, our job is to make sure that no one notices.”
Jessica is the creative director of Bisous Events. Her eye for clean lines and her knack for picking out the essentials makes her the perfect go-to for your wedding day. She likes to keep things classic, thoughtful, and not overdone. She’s organized, personable, creative, and adaptable, which is everything you could want in a wedding planner.
“Make sure to check out your wedding planner’s portfolio and make sure your visions are aligned. Book your planner early and work with someone you trust! You want to feel confident that you can always lean on them throughout the planning process.”
I’ve known Candace forever. We met in a non-wedding-related way and it was just a bonus that we both worked in the same industry. Candace has years of wedding and event planning experience and she believes that when you’re choosing a planner, you should work with someone that will treat your event like their own.
“You don’t know what you don’t know. So much can come up that’s unexpected. I help you navigate everything, so it doesn’t feel stressful. Flow is so important. It’s essential to have someone there to make the guest experience and your experience seamless.”
Alexa and Aja have joined together to share their passion for weddings and events with the world. They believe that two perspectives are better than one. Every project they take on is the result of a joint vision and always thinking outside of the box.
“We offer full-service planning and we make sure that every vendor is managed, every contract is read, every detail is considered. We are here to get our clients to dump all of their ideas on us and we spend the time doing the research…and then they approve it all! We want our clients to feel really good about all of the decisions they make so that their vision comes to life.
You should feel super comfortable with the vendors you’ll be spending the day with. Is there a great connection? Do your personalities align? We love weddings and love and celebrating and we want everyone to have their dream day.”
Laura definitely knows how to bring love stories to life. She gravitates towards timeless and authentic events, rather than trends and is there for a couple when it comes to planning, design, or both.
“Some planners have been through this hundreds of times before and can help you think objectively about each and every decision that has to be made.
Finding balance between your needs and your wants (traditions/modern-day weddings) is something I specialize in. I love to make your wedding authentic and unique to you, with budget in mind, but balanced out by design. I always try to put a focus on finding a great balance between wants vs needs, expectations vs reality”
Love by Lynzie is a Toronto-based planning and design agency that brings bold, original, artistic weddings, events, spaces, and social content to life. Lynzie and her team have been working with couples since 2011, turning their stories into tangible event experiences. Love by Lynzie is also the originator of the Pop Up Chapel Co. which is a sustainable and charitable alternative to getting married at city hall, where 10 couples marry in one day. I’ve had the opportunity to photograph one of the Chapels in 2021 and it was such a fun and unique experience.
“A couple will likely plan one wedding in their whole life but we do it every single weekend. We’ve planned hundreds of weddings. We know when a quote is overpriced, what flowers are in season, to really hone in on your vision. We save our clients hours of research time etc. We know where to find the vendors and experts for every aspect of a wedding day! We are there to protect your investment!
There are no rules when it comes to your wedding. When a couple approaches the wedding planning process with a structure that was handed down from other people, it’s self-limiting and stress-inducing. It’s all about: Does this experience align with my values and the experience I want my guests to have? We’re here to support you with all of it.”
I had the pleasure of meeting Paula for the first time in late 2021 at a wedding at Kortright Centre. We hit it off right away and worked so well together. She was such a pro at making sure the day went off without a hitch and was so on top of every detail. Paula is super professional, kind, organized, and makes sure to stick to the schedule to ensure that the day runs smoothly.
“We want our clients to enjoy their whole planning process stress-free. We have lots of vendor connections and make sure to suggest vendors who we know will vibe with our couples. We are the point of contact for vendors on the day of and we take care of all the behind-the-scenes so that our couples can just enjoy their day.”
I love the vision statement on Shannon’s website “Taking your vision and finding the magic in your story”. Something I told Shannon during our chat was that when I see photos from a wedding or an event, I can tell when it was her design. She has such an amazing eye for detail and creates a beautiful aesthetic for each and every wedding she’s had a hand in. Her studio provides experiential design, styling & coordination services for weddings, events, brands, and creatives.
“Working with a planner or coordinator who has done so many weddings gives you peace of mind that nothing will get missed and you can really enjoy the entire experience, including the planning process. My goal is to take away the stress and overwhelm.
We’re essentially a guest at your event, especially if it’s a smaller wedding. You want to work with someone that you can build a relationship with, connect with, and trust!”
Trevor is so awesome. He’s so easy to connect with, has a great sense of humour, and is just really stellar at his job. Whether you’re eloping, having an intimate backyard wedding, or a huge glitzy celebration, he’s there to help reduce stress and give all of his couples the freedom to enjoy their wedding day.
“I’ve heard so many stories about couples who didn’t hire a planner only to regret it later. It’s so valuable to have someone there to be a point person for vendors and guests. Someone who will take care of business! My goal is always to make your day a perfect day.”
There you have it folks! I hope this was useful and I’ll be updating this post with more of Toronto’s top wedding planners as I continue to connect with them. I think the bottom line is, hire a professional so that you can have a stress-free experience, both before and during your wedding.
